What happens from here?
1. The report generated from
the IC3 website will be forwarded to the law enforcement agency in the
jurisdiction that you reside in and to the law enforcement agencies in the
locations where your credit card number was used. The report will also be
forwarded to the Secret Service.
2. If you have additional
information about your card, you can simply log back into the
www.ic3.gov website and add the additional information.
Do I still need to file a
report with my local police department or sheriff’s office?
The report that you filed with
IC3 takes place of filing a police report. IC3 has analysts on staff and
will research, generate reports and disseminate the information to all of
the appropriate agencies. IC3 can keep track of all of the reports and
find the common characteristics of the complaints which are very
beneficial to law enforcement. What happens with the report is up to the
law enforcement agency receiving the report.
What if my bank/credit card
company wants a report number?
The report you filed with IC3
will have an identification code assigned to it. Provide that number to
your bank/credit card company. If they will not accept that number, and
you are a Page County resident, you may file a report with the Page County
Sheriff’s Office. Non-Page county residents, will have to file a report
with the jurisdiction in which the charges to your account were made in.
